Air New England - Mug
Air New England (ANE) was a regional airline operating in New England from 1970 to 1981. It started as a small commuter airline based at Logan International Airport, serving Cape Cod and expanding to destinations like New York, Maine, and Vermont. The airline's fleet grew to include DC-3s, Twin Otters, Beech 99s, and Convair 580 turboprops. Despite its expansion, ANE struggled financially, relying heavily on government subsidies, which covered 17-25% of its revenues from 1975 to 1981. With deregulation in the airline industry, competition increased, and by October 31, 1981, facing unsustainable financial losses, ANE ceased operations. At its peak, it employed 400 people.
