British Midland Airways - Hoodie
British Midland Airways Limited, known at various times as British Midland, bmi British Midland, or British Midland International (BMI), was a UK airline headquartered near East Midlands Airport. Founded in 1938 as Air Schools Limited, it evolved into Derby Airways in 1959, offering domestic flights. In 1964, after acquiring Mercury Airlines, it rebranded as British Midland Airways (BMA) and moved operations to East Midlands Airport. In 2001, it was rebranded as BMI. Lufthansa took full ownership in 2008, and in 2011, BMI was sold to IAG for £172.5 million. The airline's fleet was then integrated into British Airways.
