Air Jamaica - Hoodie

$63.70 AUD

Air Jamaica was first founded on August 27, 1963, as Jamaica Air Service Ltd., with the Jamaican government, British Overseas Airways Corporation (BOAC), and BWIA as shareholders. It began flights to Miami and New York in 1966. In October 1968, the airline was re-established as Air Jamaica, with operations starting in April 1969, initially connecting Jamaica with New York and Miami. The airline expanded rapidly in the 1970s, adding routes to Canada, the Caribbean, and Europe. By 1983, it operated long-haul services with Boeing 747s and Airbus A300s.

Due to financial difficulties, the Jamaican government regained full control in 2004. In 2009, discussions for a merger with Caribbean Airlines began. On May 1, 2010, Caribbean Airlines acquired Air Jamaica’s fleet and routes, effectively taking over the airline’s operations.
